Retreats and studies are offered throughout the year. If you are interested in a topic, book or have other ideas, please contact Parish Associate - Jean Weaver. New JustFaith Group:In May of this year at a closing retreat, 13 Westminster members and one from
St. Anthony Catholic Church completed a 30-week program called JustFaith in
which they met weekly to learn about poverty and the social justice tradition of
our faith to care for the "least of these." They prayed together and discussed
selections from the writings of 12 authors passionate about our calling to
struggle against poverty, racism, militarism, and exploitation. They considered
the possibility that our lifestyle may not be hastening the coming of the
kingdom. They heard speakers and watched videos related to the readings. They
did "border crossings" to eat with homeless people at a soup kitchen, to listen
to recently freed inmates at a halfway house, and to talk with participants in a
drug rehab program. They were changed by the experience.
There are openings available to participate in a second JustFaith
program to begin in September of 2010. For details contact Thayer Brown or Eleanor
