Dine with Nine

Dine with Nine is nine or so members and friends of Westminster Church who want to get to know other members who gather in the home of a member for a potluck meal, or at a restaurant, or at a picnic.  The purpose of this group is to help extend and develop relationships of church members.

What:

Nine members & friends of Westminster Church who want to get to know others they might not know so well, if at all, gathering in the home of a member for a pot-luck meal, or at a restaurant, or at a picnic.

When:

Dinners are held twice a year -Spring (March - June) and Fall (September - January) with sign ups occurring in February & August/September. Each group of nine determines when and where the dinners will take place Primary goal is "getting together."

Why:

To help extend the relationships that make Westminster Presbyterian a family of faith in which members really do know each other.

To offer prospective members a chance to interact with church members.

Where:

In homes, at local restaurants, picnic grounds and parks.

How:

  1. Persons indicate a desire to participate.
  2. A coordinating team divides them into groups of nine.
  3. A host household is selected for the first of two or three dinner gatherings.
  4. The host(s) call(s) the people on their list several weeks in advance and invites them to share a meal.
  5. The host(s) provide the place and the main course and ask other group members to bring the rest.
  6. The only agenda is to enjoy each other's company and set a date for one more gathering at another place the following month.
  7. New Dine with Nine groups are organized for the next seasonal gathering.
